background_size=&#8221;initial&#8221; background_position=&#8221;top_left&#8221; background_repeat=&#8221;repeat&#8221; hover_enabled=&#8221;0&#8243; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221; sticky_enabled=&#8221;0&#8243;]<\/p>\n<p><strong>LOL Council\u00a0 Meeting, January 18, 2022<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>Present at meeting:\u00a0 Jan Olson, Sarah Miller, Pam Ulness, Deb Ruedinger, Wayne Ludkey, John Macho, Amy Penza (guest), Pastor Kevin, Apryl Brantley and Kristen Bjornstad<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Opening Prayer:<\/strong> Pastor Kevin<\/p>\n<p><strong>Devotion:<\/strong> Jan Olson\u2014Teamwork (Exodus 18)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Council Member Changes:\u00a0 <\/strong>Wayne informed the council that Sarah Miller offered to come back for a year to cover the absence left by two council members who had to step down with one year left in each of their terms (John Penza &amp; David Wein).\u00a0 John Macho made a motion to welcome Sarah Miller back to council for one year.\u00a0 Kristen Bjornstad seconded.\u00a0 Approved.<\/p>\n<p>John Macho also noted that Dick Shallert may drop in on the meeting as he is considering filling the other open spot.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pastor\u2019s Report:<\/strong> Pastor Kevin.\u00a0 See attached \u201cTeam Reports\u201d document.\u00a0 Pastor added that overall, December was a good month and that Christmas services were well attended.\u00a0 Pastor Kevin also thanked Amy Penza for covering during his vacation.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Youth Report:<\/strong> Amy.\u00a0 Amy said that things are going well. \u00a0She is starting a new curriculum with the youth and is trying to start a Wednesday worship with them to expose them to more and to [hopefully] retain them longer.\u00a0 She is also going to have one dedicated Wednesday each month for High School youth group members.\u00a0 Gym Wednesdays will be starting again as well.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Amy tried reaching out to the principal at Omro HS about getting a morning prayer group started.\u00a0 That has been tough going.<\/p>\n<p>Wayne asked about Sunday School:\u00a0 Amy discussed the new curriculum and that there is a learning curve associated with that.\u00a0 Amy reached out for help with making copies and other prep work for Sunday school.\u00a0 She received positive responses and is working on putting a volunteer schedule together.\u00a0 She is working on learning to delegate more.<\/p>\n<p>Sarah mentioned to Amy that if the youth are needing another archery night, to let her know.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Treasurer&#8217;s Report:<\/strong> Apryl.<\/p>\n<p>The Operating Budget Total Net Surplus YTD as of December 2021\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 $7,358<\/p>\n<p>The Operating Budget Total Net Deficit for Month of December 2021\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 (11,282)<\/p>\n<p>Total Cash in Operating Checking Account as of December 2021 is $98,861.90<\/p>\n<p>Total Cash in Special Events Checking Account as of December 2021 is $63,357.63<\/p>\n<p>(this includes the $29,500.00 in Holding)<\/p>\n<p>Total in Fortifi Investment Account as of December 2021 is $25,525.78<\/p>\n<p>Operating Budget Explanation:<\/p>\n<p>Our YTD income for Church Operations is higher than budgeted by $16,056.\u00a0 Our Regular Envelope\/Vanco\/Credit Card giving is higher than budgeted by $12,401 our Loose Offering is lower than budget by ($626).<\/p>\n<p>We received Scrip proceeds as of December 2021 $4,300 of our Fiscal Year.<\/p>\n<p>Summary<\/p>\n<p>We did budget for a ($28,468) Deficit YTD and our Actual Surplus YTD is $7,358<\/p>\n<p>Council members discussed how the income for December was more than was budgeted and where the loss\/deficit for the month could have come from (utilities cost increase, projects etc.).<\/p>\n<p>Deb Ruedinger made a motion to approve the treasurer\u2019s report.\u00a0 Sarah Miller seconded.<\/p>\n<p>Wayne mentioned that he spoke to Ellen in the office about creating a separate giving \u201cbucket\u201d for members to contribute\/donate to the new sign fundraiser, specifically.\u00a0 Sarah asked Wayne to get her the link for the sign giving so that she can put it on Facebook.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Buildings and Grounds:\u00a0 <\/strong>Jan Olson.\u00a0 Please see attached \u201cTeam Reports\u201d document.\u00a0 Additionally, Jan asked Pastor Kevin if he knows anything about the Proline system (for controlling thermostats).\u00a0 Pastor Kevin suggested contacting Tim White first and find out who he dealt with.\u00a0 Otherwise she could contact John Barikmo to find out if he knows who to contact.<\/p>\n<p>Jan asked about when the blinds had been installed as they may need to be replaced. Pastor suggested checking with Betts\u2019 son because he helped with the installation and may be able to help with replacement parts (or possible knows how to re-string them).<\/p>\n<p>Jan discussed budgeting for more cleaning hours in the future.\u00a0 Pastor Kevin and others thought that perhaps a seasonal team for deep cleaning could be created (Amy suggested doing a deep clean quarterly).<\/p>\n<p>Jan asked Apryl if any money had been budgeted for landscaping for 2022.\u00a0 Apryl said that none had.\u00a0 Pastor noted that more work that had been planned from the donation previously given, would be completed in Spring.<\/p>\n<p>Deb Ruedinger made a motion to approve the B&amp;G report.\u00a0 Sarah Miller seconded.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong><u>OLD BUSINESS<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong>The Sign Update\/Announcement:<\/strong> Wayne.\u00a0 Wayne gave handouts to council members.\u00a0 He informed council that Creative Sign would like to come out and meet with B&amp;G and Council to discuss the sign location and right away for the highway.\u00a0 They also demo how the sign works and discuss best practices.\u00a0 Creative needs a day and time and also needs 50% of the sign cost ($21,700) before they come out.<\/p>\n<p>This weekend Wayne will give the congregation the handouts and a picture of the sign.\u00a0 He will also be asking for additional donations (asking for $22,700).\u00a0 There were already 3 donations made (totaling $13,700).\u00a0 Wayne will check with the donors to make sure it\u2019s OK to announce them to the congregation so that they can be thanked.<\/p>\n<p>For the portion of the sign cost that council pledged, Wayne asked Apryl if she knew where that would come from.\u00a0 Jan pointed out that there are enough funds in the \u201cspecial events\u201d bucket, so would the money come from there?\u00a0 Apryl said that she will be meeting with Gail and Andy to determine which accounts the funds will come out of as they should be included in that discussion.\u00a0 Wayne said that the fundraiser will need to be completed by the end of February.<\/p>\n<p>An inquiry was made regarding the cost of the sign if the electronic messaging board (EMB) was not included at this time.\u00a0 Wayne said that he is confident that the largest donation would be pulled away if the EMB is not included.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>NEW BUSINESS<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><u>\u00a0<\/u><\/strong><strong>Afghan Refugee Families:\u00a0 <\/strong>John Macho discussed refugee sponsorship with council.\u00a0 He said that 6-8 person teams are being formed and Word Relief is supplying the housing.\u00a0 The volunteers\/teams will be the bridge to a new life for these families.\u00a0 Assistance with grocery shopping, transportation and introduction to daily activities like riding the bus are usually what\u2019s expected.\u00a0 Typically, there are 4-8 people in each refugee family.\u00a0 Community Church has 40 people helping, so they will be getting 5 refugee families.<\/p>\n<p>John asked Wayne to have interested people contact him (John), so that he can determine how many people we may have to form teams.\u00a0 John also noted that there will be different training for teams\/volunteers to go through.\u00a0 Wayne said that he would have a note about volunteers interested in joining a team put a note in the bulletin as well.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Our Mission for 2022:<\/strong> Wayne.\u00a0 The focus this year is communication .\u00a0 John put together a list of teams.\u00a0 Wayne asked if there is an \u201cofficial\u201d team for funerals\/weddings.\u00a0 Pastor Kevin said that Jan Olson and Jill Templin usually help with funerals and have key people that they usually call.\u00a0 Barb Wachtendonk assists with weddings.\u00a0 Wayne asked if we need a dedicated person to coordinate volunteers.<\/p>\n<p>Amy suggested starting by resending the time and talents forms out to the congregation.\u00a0 This way we could determine who is still willing to help (as things may have changed since the beginning of COVID-19).\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Wayne inquired, if we do determine that a coordinator is needed, would that be a voluntary or paid position.<\/p>\n<p>Deb and Pam will get out the time and talents surveys.\u00a0 Sarah still as the ability to send out the online survey.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Multiple people mentioned that many teams do not have a \u201clead\u201d person, so we will still need someone to be assigned to coordinate for those teams (see list that follows).<\/p>\n<p><strong>What&#8217;s Going On at Lord of the Lakes: <\/strong>John M.<\/p>\n<p>Here are all groups at our church with the coordinator for each or when it meets. We will discuss why sometime early spring we may need to change this.<\/p>\n<p>Sarah Walsh contacted Jan about getting the Life &amp; Fellowship team back up and running.<\/p>\n<p>Apryl asked if there is a description of what each team does.\u00a0 Sarah said that a brief description is noted on the survey sheets.<\/p>\n<p>Jan said that in the past, teams would set up tables in the gathering area so that people could get more information and sign up.<\/p>\n<p>Wayne said that he would like to have each council member be a liason for a team.<\/p>\n<p>Wayne asked if communion is OK the way it is going.\u00a0 Pastor Kevin said that volunteers to assist with communion is not an issue.<\/p>\n<p>Jan noted that the greeting team has fallen by the wayside.<\/p>\n<p>Deb volunteered to be the coordinator of all the volunteers related to worship services, beginning where they leave off, in April 2022 &#8211; Greeters, Readers, Communion Assistants, Ushers, and Coffee Fellowship. Deb also agreed to modify the current Time and Talents Survey in preparation to launch a Volunteer Campaign in March.<\/p>\n<p><strong>New Council Members Discussion &#8211; <\/strong>Still need one more council member to fill in for a one-year term.<\/p>\n<p>Wayne asked if there was any additional new business.\u00a0 Kristen was asked to put an updated council contact list list of needs for the site to Randy Korus.\u00a0 She will continue working to get the pertinent information updated.\u00a0 Facebook page is doing well.\u00a0 Sarah is working with Tammie to get the Sunday School plans and is working on getting Fall\/Winter activities updated.<\/li><\/ol><p>\u00a0<\/p><ol start=\"28\"><li><strong>Life and Fellowship: <\/strong>The team met on 6\/23 and discussed items\/events that may be of interest to the congregation.\u00a0 Sarah would like to send out the activity interest survey (that was previously sent to council members for input).\u00a0 She will email the congregation and have some paper copies for those who don\u2019t use email.\u00a0 Jeff would like to see a survey link on the Facebook page.\u00a0 Pastor Kevin will announce the survey at the 8:00 a.m. on 7\/21 and the 10:00 service on 7\/28.<\/li><\/ol><p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p><ol><li><strong>We Care: <\/strong>The team met last month and is getting ideas for the Fall.\u00a0 Pastor said that 1\/3 of the congregation is dealing with mental illness directly (in some way).<\/li><\/ol><p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p><p><strong>Old Business<\/strong><\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p><strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Easter Breakfast Discussion:\u00a0 <\/strong>The council needs to have the Easter Breakfast coordinator established \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 by January 15, 2020, so that we know who will be handling this by the January council meeting.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p><strong>12 Month Goals Discussion:\u00a0 <\/strong>Some of the items that council brainstormed last meeting will be <strong>ongoing \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong>items.\u00a0 Others will be designated as <strong>Tasks <\/strong>that will be given a timeline to be completed and checked off.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>Stewardship program:\u00a0 ongoing<\/p><p>Men\u2019s group:\u00a0 ongoing<\/p><p>Volunteer recruitment (getting newer\/younger families involved):\u00a0 ongoing<\/p><p>Constitution revisit to have guide for the future:\u00a0 Task.\u00a0 Jeff and Jan will review the current Ongoing<\/p><p>Nursery Updates:\u00a0 Task.\u00a0 Sarah updated the Nursery to accommodate 0-3 year old children.\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 nursery will still be unstaffed (there was not enough interest to get it staffed).\u00a0 There will<\/p><p>be new signage so that parents are aware that children are not to be unsupervised in the<\/p><p>nursery (she has heard that some older kids have been in there which resulted in<\/p><p>broken toys and untidiness).\u00a0 Council agreed to signage that says, \u201cWelcome to the<\/p><p>nursery.\u00a0 Please NO unsupervised children.\u201d<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>Financial Peace University (David Ramsey Debt Reduction program):\u00a0 Pastor Kevin said this program is set up
