Hurray!)\u00a0 So, looks like the future of the church is bright, come what may.<\/p>\n<p>I look to October as a time of healing and a time of unity here at our church.\u00a0 I hope we can all come together and find the grace and forgiveness within us that God has called us to.\u00a0 I hope you will all be a part of that.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Thanks for all you do!\u00a0 Pastor Kevin\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Wayne added that he came away from the anniversary celebration excited about what we could be doing (he was inspired by hearing the stories from former pastors and members about the passion that went into forming the church).\u00a0 Pastor Kevin noted that there has been less \u201cplanning\u201d due to the current situation.\u00a0 All have been tentative about planning events\/activities out of concern that things will be cancelled.<\/p>\n<p>Wayne asked if we should resume broadcasting the service to the parking lot if there are still people staying away.\u00a0 Pastor said that it\u2019s easy to do if needed.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Money Matters<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Operating Budget Total <strong>Net Surplus YTD<\/strong> as of August 2021\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 $19,419<\/p>\n<p>The Operating Budget Total <strong>Net Deficit for Month<\/strong> of August 2021\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 ($1,573)<\/p>\n<p>Total Cash in Operating Checking Account as of August 2021 is <strong>$100,067.18<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Total Cash in Special Events Checking Account as of August 2021 is <strong>$59,144.25<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>(this includes the $29,500.00 in Holding)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Total in Fortifi Investment Account as of June 2021 is<strong> $24,117.75<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Operating Budget Explanation:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Our YTD income for Church Operations is higher than budgeted by $6,960.\u00a0 Our Regular Envelope\/Vanco\/Credit Card giving is higher than budgeted by $3,786 our Loose Offering is lower than budget by ($490).<\/p>\n<p>We received Scrip proceeds as of August 2021 $3,300 of our Fiscal Year.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Summary<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We did budget for a ($18,979) Deficit YTD and our Actual Surplus YTD is $19,419<\/p>\n<p>Jeff noted that we will need to have 90% of the budget in October as November 14, 2021 is the annual meeting\/budget presentation.\u00a0 Jeff would like Apryl to start sending out the budget requests to all departments.<\/p>\n<p>Wayne relayed that Ellen said the copier repair person has said that we need a new copier.\u00a0 Wayne wasn\u2019t sure why, so we need to find out the reason before we move ahead with replacing.\u00a0 Ellen is going to get quotes.<\/p>\n<p>Wayne asked who the council rep for the office is.\u00a0 Pastor Kevin stated that it is probably him, but we may need to assign someone else.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Stewardship<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><u>\u00a0<\/u><\/strong>\u201cThis month the focus was on relief for hurricane Ida victims and reminding folks there is no &#8220;stuff&#8221; in heaven. I also became the defacto\u00a0new sign point person.<\/p>\n<p>Over a two week period we collected $757 dollars for hurricane relief. $200+ of that came from donations from the 20th anniversary potluck. We have a very generous congregation. The office will send a check with our donation to Lutheran Disaster Response, part of ELCA&#8217;s hurricane relief program.<\/p>\n<p>Stewardship messaging also reminded congregation members &#8220;there is no stuff in heaven&#8221;, suggesting people name Lord of the Lakes as a beneficiary on various holdings. As we all know, you can&#8217;t take it with you, so our church could do good work in the community.<\/p>\n<p>A new outside sign project is coming together. We have been working with proposals from Creative Sign Company out of DePere and Appleton Sign Company. Both companies have gone back to the drawing board after their initial proposals. The building and grounds committee is leaning towards a sign with electronic messaging. If we go that route it is likely we will need a stewardship fundraising campaign for the sign.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Blessings, Wayne\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Wayne added that the new technology for the electronic component of the sign makes it look like a photo and it can be programmed a long time in advance.\u00a0 However, this is a very expensive option.\u00a0 Council members present discussed whether it is worth it\/necessary to pay the extra money to have electronic messaging on the sign.\u00a0 Jeff suggested that we cap how much money we are willing to spend on a new sign and stay within those parameters. \u00a0Kristen feels that most people will drive by and see the name\/denomination of the church and if they are interested or want more information they will look it up online.\u00a0 She felt that we should invest more money in people and programs.<\/p>\n<p>Pastor Kevin asked Wayne if the service times on the static sign light up.\u00a0 Wayne said that could be done and all thought this was a good idea.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Buildings and Grounds<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Report submitted via email by Jan Olson\u2026<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Team reconvened on Sept. 14 and welcomed back Ben Manning (Chair), Daryl Ramlow, Tom Zillges, Rick Pierre, Betts Zillges Dave Smolinski and Jan Olson (secretary). \u00a0\u00a0The following discussed:<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;HVAC in Sanctuary needs work:\u00a0 fresh air exchanger to be replaced due to faulty wiring for cost of close to $4000.\u00a0 Vendor (GMS) recommending piping be insulated \u2013 Brad to do on return from vacation.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;Sanctuary west exit door fixed but does need to be replaced.\u00a0 Had another acceptable bid and Dave will follow-up as well as paint it prior to installation, which saves significantly.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;Had a cracked well cap which was fixed by Brad<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;Water Heater work done by Kascade and Brad \u2013 odor in kitchen drains resolved.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;Brad to start on basement partitions when returns<\/p>\n<p>&#8212; Alter rails done in July \u2013 working well and look nice<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;Bathroom exhaust fans replaced earlier this summer by Daryl and Brad<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;Presentation on replacing Lord of the Lakes sign by highway by Wayne Ludkey from Council, comparing two companies design and cost.\u00a0 Most of discussion around digital messaging board and consensus was that we should include that.\u00a0 Wayne will continue to research.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;Ben presented a 5 year Landscaping plan and Van Zealand has been given the contract.\u00a0 This is being paid for with a donation from an anonymous donor\u2019s family foundation.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;Fall Clean-up date set as Nov. 7<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0at 11 am.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Thanks, Jan\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Pastor Kevin thinks that we have never had the correct controls on the furnace.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Old Business<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Employee Handbook:<strong>\u00a0 <\/strong>Carry over for David Wein<\/p>\n<p>Church Picnic:<strong>\u00a0 <\/strong>Jeff felt that the picnic was well received.<\/p>\n<p>Business Management Team:<strong>\u00a0 <\/strong>Jeff said that when looking for members, they should be asked if they would like to be on council.\u00a0 If they say no, ask about joining the BMT.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>New Business<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Counting Coordinator:\u00a0 Jeff received an email from Kate Pfaendtner resigning from the position.\u00a0 Pastor Kevin asked if more people are needed on the team.\u00a0 Jeff is not sure at this point.<\/p>\n<p>Annual Meeting:\u00a0 Annual Meeting\/Budget presentation is November 14, 2021.\u00a0 Need to get the budget together in October.\u00a0 We also need two nominees for new council members.\u00a0 Jeff asked a few people, but hasn\u2019t had anyone say \u201cyes\u201d yet.\u00a0 He has also asked a few members for suggestions.\u00a0 He may make an announcement at an upcoming service.<\/p>\n<p>Pastor Kevin asked Wayne if anything is going on with the endowment fund.\u00a0 Wayne said that LOL has been named beneficiary on some investments.<\/p>\n<p>Reports were presented at this meeting, but notion has been voted on.<\/p>\n<p>Kristen noted that she will be out of town for the October meeting, so someone list of needs for the site to Randy Korus.\u00a0 She will continue working to get the pertinent information updated.\u00a0 Facebook page is doing well.\u00a0 Sarah is working with Tammie to get the Sunday School plans and is working on getting Fall\/Winter activities updated.<\/li><\/ol><p>\u00a0<\/p><ol start=\"28\"><li><strong>Life and Fellowship: <\/strong>The team met on 6\/23 and discussed items\/events that may be of interest to the congregation.\u00a0 Sarah would like to send out the activity interest survey (that was previously sent to council members for input).\u00a0 She will email the congregation and have some paper copies for those who don\u2019t use email.\u00a0 Jeff would like to see a survey link on the Facebook page.\u00a0 Pastor Kevin will announce the survey at the 8:00 a.m. on 7\/21 and the 10:00 service on 7\/28.<\/li><\/ol><p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p><ol><li><strong>We Care: <\/strong>The team met last month and is getting ideas for the Fall.\u00a0 Pastor said that 1\/3 of the congregation is dealing with mental illness directly (in some way).<\/li><\/ol><p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p><p><strong>Old Business<\/strong><\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p><strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Easter Breakfast Discussion:\u00a0 <\/strong>The council needs to have the Easter Breakfast coordinator established \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 by January 15, 2020, so that we know who will be handling this by the January council meeting.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p><strong>12 Month Goals Discussion:\u00a0 <\/strong>Some of the items that council brainstormed last meeting will be <strong>ongoing \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong>items.\u00a0 Others will be designated as <strong>Tasks <\/strong>that will be given a timeline to be completed and checked off.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>Stewardship program:\u00a0 ongoing<\/p><p>Men\u2019s group:\u00a0 ongoing<\/p><p>Volunteer recruitment (getting newer\/younger families involved):\u00a0 ongoing<\/p><p>Constitution revisit to have guide for the future:\u00a0 Task.\u00a0 Jeff and Jan will review the current Ongoing<\/p><p>Nursery Updates:\u00a0 Task.\u00a0 Sarah updated the Nursery to accommodate 0-3 year old children.\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 nursery will still be unstaffed (there was not enough interest to get it staffed).\u00a0 There will<\/p><p>be new signage so that parents are aware that children are not to be unsupervised in the<\/p><p>nursery (she has heard that some older kids have been in there which resulted in<\/p><p>broken toys and untidiness).\u00a0 Council agreed to signage that says, \u201cWelcome to
