BUILDINGS & GROUNDS MINUTES<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

PRESENT:\u00a0 Ben Manning, Brad Gasper, Daryl Ramlow, Dave Smolinski, Jan Olson, Rick Pierre<\/p>\n

MEETING OPENED at 6:30pm:\u00a0 Jan opened with a prayer.\u00a0 Jan also thanked the group as a whole for hard work over the last few months.\u00a0 Jan passed along that Pr Kevin expressed his appreciation of the property, inside and outside appearing in the best shape and cleanest it has been since he has been here.<\/p>\n

BRAD\u2019S UPDATE<\/strong>:\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Routine Maintenance:\u00a0 no issues<\/p>\n

ALTAR RAILS<\/u>:\u00a0 Brad\u2019s contact is in process building the rails; they will be anchored to the steps.<\/p>\n

BASEMENT PARTITIONS<\/u>:\u00a0 Basement has been cleaned up so work can begin.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Lumber prices continue to be double or more in cost but likely will not be coming down in any near future.\u00a0 Brad suggested he make one and determine if this is what we really want to do to solve the problem plus we would have a better idea of actual cost per partition.\u00a0 The Team agreed this is a good way to proceed and Brad will move forward.\u00a0<\/p>\n

BATHROOM FANS<\/u>:\u00a0 The fans are here and Brad just needs time to get the work done.<\/p>\n

WATER HEATER<\/u>:\u00a0 Brad has spoken with Pete from Cascade who sold and installed the equipment.\u00a0 Pete will come, open it up and drain it the rest of the way so it can be properly cleaned out.\u00a0 Brad will be recontacting him as his time allows.<\/p>\n

WEST SANCTUARY EXIT DOOR<\/u>:\u00a0 Does not open easily and takes strength to reclose it.\u00a0 It\u2019s bad enough that we have been written up by the fire inspector on their routine inspection.\u00a0 No timeline written on their report.\u00a0 Tom Zillges had Albright Construction here to replace the east exit door off the basement staircase about 6-8 months ago.\u00a0 This door seems to be doing the same \u2013 not closing properly, rusting, and paint is chipping away. Brad will contact Tom re: Albright coming to look at this door.\u00a0<\/p>\n

SPRING CLEAN UP per Jan<\/strong> —\u00a0 We had a good amount of help and got the following accomplished:<\/p>\n

MULCH LANDSCAPED AREA<\/u>:\u00a0 Completed with putting a total of 6 yards on.<\/p>\n

WINDOWS and CUPBOARD FRONTS<\/u>:\u00a0 All door windows done and kitchen and breakfast bar fronts washed down<\/p>\n

BASEMENT<\/u>: Everything deemed unusable removed \u2013 about half discarded in our garbage and recycle containers and a truckload went to Thrift.\u00a0 The Youth carried it all upstairs and out for us.\u00a0 The air hockey and foosball tables were advertised on Facebook Marketplace as need some repair, free for the hauling and they were given to a member from our church who responded.\u00a0 Plan to advertise the sale of 25 of the 35 older blue chairs ($5 each or 6 for $25), the 59\u201d round brown table ($50) and the air compressor (B&G agreed could possibly get $50-75 for it).\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cPiles\u2019 that remain in basement belong to Scouts and against the west wall are props created by Tammy F Voekel for various plays and performances.\u00a0 Betts had said she would contact Tammy and see what if anything she wants kept.<\/p>\n

WEED PATROL<\/u>:\u00a0 Beverly Raatjes is taking the lead on that and has reported all her workers are returning and she is working on a schedule for them.<\/p>\n

TREE\/SHRUB TRIMMING<\/u>:\u00a0 Ben asked if there was a plan.\u00a0 Unknown and Ben will contact Beverly.\u00a0 Likely if anyone is doing it routinely it is Dave Klemp.<\/p>\n

WINDOW WASHING<\/u>:\u00a0 Betts has said she will complete the inside and suggested we hire our preferred vendor to wash the outside as it has not been done in at least a couple years.\u00a0 Jan will follow up on that re: budget monies left and cost at this time.<\/p>\n

SIGN BY HIGHWAY<\/u>:\u00a0 Ben had a friend look at it and stated he can spray it down and clean it up for $100. Ben to verify with him that it is Styrofoam to be sure it holds up w spray washing.\u00a0<\/p>\n

ALGEA CONTROL IN POND<\/u>:\u00a0 Recently cleaned up once already by Dave Klemp.\u00a0 Rick did research on best way of handling.\u00a0 Aeration might be best but may need to be in combination with other methods.\u00a0 Costly and unsure if there is electricity out there.\u00a0 Chemicals work but disappear quickly with rain and need to be reapplied frequently.\u00a0 He was able to get \u2018Barley Straw Bales\u2019 from a friend and several are anchored out towards the middle.\u00a0 This has been reported to work fairly well some of the time so we will see.<\/p>\n

PREFERRED VENDOR LIST<\/u>:\u00a0 needs to be updated; Jan got info in some areas and will research the rest and redo.<\/p>\n

ELECTRICAL<\/u>:\u00a0 Daryl reminded us that if for whatever reason, drilling thru the concrete floor of the Narthex or Sanctuary needs to be done, he or Brad should be contacted.\u00a0 PVC conduits with wires run just under the concrete and drilling thru those could be a huge problem.\u00a0 The same applies outside in a couple areas and the lawn mower has been going over some of them.\u00a0 Daryl flagged one of the more dangerous areas near the Sanctuary Air Conditioner and feels putting a metal plate into the ground may prevent that problem.\u00a0 In reality, all the wires under concrete and outside should have been dug down much deeper than what they are.\u00a0<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

B&G SUMMER MEETINGS<\/u>:\u00a0 We have suspended meeting June, July, and Aug. the past two summers and it worked okay.\u00a0 Team agreed to do same this year.\u00a0 Ben will contact Brad periodically to check in on projects and if there are issues we should know about.\u00a0 They will let Jan know if the Team members should be updated or are needed to help and she will do that via email.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Building & Grounds Minutes \u2013 Oct. 8, 2019<\/p>

Present:\u00a0 Betts Nikolai, Daryl Ramlow, Lou Zwicky, Dave Smolinski, Tom Zillges, Kate Pfaendtner, Rick Pierre, Warren Winter, Brad Gasper, Jan Olson<\/p>

Kate opened meeting at 6:30 with a prayer and then introduced herself to the group.\u00a0 Rick is also new to the group and was welcomed.<\/p>

Building Security<\/u><\/strong>: \u00a0Jill has asked we address the security system.\u00a0 The Swipe Card system has not worked in some time.\u00a0 The group suggested the best way of getting an accurate listing of who all has keys, if that is the issue, is to ask that everyone turn theirs back in and then those who really need theirs, are re-issued the appropriate level.\u00a0 No conclusion<\/p>

Fiber Optic Cable<\/u><\/strong>:\u00a0 As requested last month by Pr Kevin.\u00a0 Brad will work with Daryl who is familiar with the issue.\u00a0 Dave S. also offered to help.<\/p>

East Door Replacement<\/u><\/strong>:\u00a0 We will ask Albright Construction to do the project as LaForce has not been responsive.\u00a0 Since, Brad had Steve from Albright here \u2013 they need to work with Block Iron.\u00a0 They will move forward and the project should be done by Thanksgiving. Since we had previously signed a contract with LaForce, Kate will send a letter informing them that due to their non-response re: getting this scheduled, we have determined we need to go with another company.<\/p>

Sanctuary Ceiling<\/u><\/strong>:\u00a0 While Steve from Albright was here, he looked at our Sanctuary Ceiling.\u00a0 He says it can be spray painted with a newer type paint, that will not add much weight.\u00a0 He will be sending a quote.\u00a0 The alternative is to purchase the appropriate paint, rent the lift, etc. and Ed will donate the labor to do it.\u00a0 We have no timeline.<\/p>

Deferred Maintenance and\/or Replacement<\/u><\/strong>: Kate is asking that various items be looked at by a Vendor for estimated longevity and a quote for the purpose of hopefully building an emergency fund so we can repair\/replace as needs occur or be proactive prior to having a crisis. The following will be looked at:<\/p>
