{"id":2051,"date":"2017-08-28T19:37:01","date_gmt":"2017-08-28T19:37:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lordofthelakes.net\/?p=2051"},"modified":"2017-08-28T19:37:01","modified_gmt":"2017-08-28T19:37:01","slug":"worship-team-august-2017-minutes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lordofthelakes.net\/index.php\/2017\/08\/28\/worship-team-august-2017-minutes\/","title":{"rendered":"Worship Team August 2017 Minutes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>MEETING OF THE WORSHIP TEAM,\u00a0<\/strong><strong>TUESDAY, AUGUST 22, 2017<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The meeting was called to order and opened with a prayer by Pastor Kevin.<\/p>\n<p><u>In Attendance:<\/u>\u00a0 Dana Hartel, Pastor Kevin Heffernan, Margaret Kohl, Mary Mueller, Ellen Smolinski, Lani Stanek, Pam Ulness.<\/p>\n<p>The following agenda items for the autumn and winter seasons were discussed:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Rally Day \u2013 Sunday, Sept. 10:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>There will be an introduction\/recognition of Sunday School teachers at the worship services.<\/li>\n<li>Children will become acquainted with their S.S. rooms and teachers.<\/li>\n<li>A special treat for the children will be decided upon after discussion with the S.S. staff.<\/li>\n<li>Since it is also Super Sunday, it was suggested people be invited to bring cans of soup for the Winneconne Food Pantry.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Dedication of Quilts for Lutheran World Relief- Sunday, Sept. 24:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Quilts will be on display this Sunday.<\/li>\n<li>The \u201cBusy Hands\u201d ladies will be recognized at the worship services.<\/li>\n<li>Pam Ulness and Marge Kohl will research the possibility of an available video from the Evangelical Lutheran Church Women (ELCW) regarding the history and use of the quilts.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Fall Fundraiser \u2013 Saturday, Oct. 21:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Pastor Kevin mentioned that a Fall Fund-raiser is being planned by another committee with food, raffle baskets, and other raffle items.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Celebration of 500<sup>th<\/sup> Anniversary of the Reformation \u2013 Sunday, Oct. 29:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A skit on the Reformation will be presented at the worship services.<\/li>\n<li>It was suggested that a similar copy of the \u201c95 Theses\u201d be posted on outside entry door of the church that Sunday. Pastor Kevin mentioned that Tammie Voelkel-Fox may be able to assist with this suggestion.<\/li>\n<li>\u201cFifty Things We May Not Know about Martin Luther\u201d could possibly be posted in <em><u>The Newsletter<\/u><\/em> or the Sunday bulletins.<\/li>\n<li>Pam Ulness volunteered to check with the East Central Synod office about the availability of reference books, videos, or movies regarding Martin Luther.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Thanksgiving Service \u2013 Tuesday, Nov. 21:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The ecumenical worship service will be held at Lord of the Lakes this year.<\/li>\n<li>Suggestion was made to make special notes, ask people to list things they are thankful for and place in a basket on the altar or tie to a special tree.<\/li>\n<li>A reception with cookies\/bars and coffee may be planned after the service.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Decorating for Christmas \u2013 Tuesday, Nov. 28:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Decorating the church for Christmas is scheduled for Nov. 28 and Pastor Kevin asked team members to think about a theme or ideas for decorating.\u00a0 Bring these ideas to the next meeting.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Advent begins Sunday, Dec. 3:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Special Wednesday evening services are being planned.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Other Issues Discussed:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>It was agreed upon favorably to have a <u>familiar and spiritually-invigorating<\/u> hymn at the opening of our worship services.
