{"id":1878,"date":"2016-11-23T17:11:29","date_gmt":"2016-11-23T17:11:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lordofthelakes.net\/?p=1878"},"modified":"2016-11-23T17:11:29","modified_gmt":"2016-11-23T17:11:29","slug":"november-2016-council-minutes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lordofthelakes.net\/index.php\/2016\/11\/23\/november-2016-council-minutes\/","title":{"rendered":"November 2016 Council Minutes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Lord of the Lakes Council, November 15, 2016<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Attendance:\u00a0 Terry Korus, Pastor Kevin Heffernan, Ken Mueller, Drew Jaeger, Kerry Arent, Joe Groholski<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Pastor opened the meeting with a prayer.\u00a0 Joe Groholski shared a devotion.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Team Reports<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Pastor\u2019s Report<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Pastor Kevin updated us on his month. Our financials are looking better, although we\u2019re not \u201cout of the woods\u201d, that takes some worry off of day-to-day cash flow.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Building &amp; Grounds<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Joe updated on Building &amp; Grounds. The periodic fire inspections report has been received.\u00a0 There are no violations noted.\u00a0 6 fall clean-up was successful.\u00a0 There is a tree between the building and sidewalk that will need to be moved in spring.\u00a0 The HVAC system may have a thermostat issue in the sanctuary.\u00a0 A work around has been figured out until a permanent fix can be investigated and budgeted for.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Worship:\u00a0 No meeting.<\/p>\n<p>Youth<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>There are 25 kids participating in the youth group this year\u2026 that\u2019s an exciting problem to have!\u00a0 Courtney is adjusting the activities accordingly.<\/li>\n<li>Time and talent sheets were sent out to the youth and they are very excited to take a larger role iin participating in church services.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Finance<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>We received some special one-time gifts in October which has helped improve the gap in giving. It is too early to tell if on-going gifts will keep us were we need to be.\u00a0 We budgeted for a ($11,486) Loss YTD and our Actual Loss YTD is now ($4,423).<\/li>\n<li>We will ask congregation members in early January for \u2018intended giving\u2019 for the 2017 year so we can better plan for the 2017-2018 fiscal year.<\/li>\n<li>Mortgage Update \u2013 We are tentatively approved for a 3.75% mortgage with a new credit union. A $10,000 line of credit for one year will be provided.\u00a0 The interest savings must build a reserve account of $25,000 that can be used for major building repairs. \u00a0We will move forward with finalizing the loan.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Stewardship<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The next wave of communications on year-to-date revenue will be via the weekly bulletins in church and the December newsletter.
